It’s great to meet you!
This is me.
Jarah Botello - Educational Consultant, Workshop Facilitator
For the last 16 years, I have worked in education as a high school teacher, teaching artist, college professor and professional development trainer. After earning my B.A. in English and theater from Howard Payne University, I began my career as an actress and theater instructor in Denver, CO. After a life changing civil rights tour in Alabama, I moved to Selma in 2007, where I taught high school and college English and drama for eight years. In Selma, I also co-founded Random Acts of Theater Co., an art program for students of all ages that centered on community service, activism and self-expression. From 2015 to 2018, I served as a Teaching and Learning Specialist for Teaching Tolerance, a project of the Southern Poverty Law Center. At Teaching Tolerance, I developed numerous resources for teachers centered on history and anti-bias education.
I love all things creative and truly believe that education is the best form of resistance. I hold an M.A. in liberal arts from Auburn University at Montgomery and currently my husband, daughters and I split our time between Atlanta, Georgia and Lima, Peru where we use education and the arts to help families escaping violence.
